Deep End Pools – Pioneers in Swimming Pool Construction

January 28th, 2010

Deep End Pools have always been pioneers when it comes to new swimming pool construction methods. We have constructed swimming pools from polymer panels in Gerrards Cross, Bucks. We have constructed swimming pools from polystyrene blocks in Beaconsfield, Bucks. We have constructed concrete tiled pools in Amersham, Bucks. We have constructed block liner pools in Burnham, Berks.

So at the 2010 Certikin Seminar in the Hilton Hotel, Warwickshire on 28th January we saw the new Heatwave Swimming Pool system it really appealed to us.

The new Heatwave swimming pool system is a revolutionary insulated panel that is designed to minimise heat loss through the swimming pools walls.

The new Heatwave insulated heat retaining panels are designed for maximum swimming pool efficiency combined with simple installation and minimal over dig to reduce construction costs when installing the swimming pool system. The panels are extremely simple to install and fix together using a simple cam lock and channel system.

The panels are available in two thicknesses a standard 75mm insulated panel that is ideal for outdoor swimming pools and a deluxe 125mm thermal panel that is ideal for indoor year round heat swimming pools.

The standard insulated panels feature a 10 year guarantee, 75mm of Polyurethane, a U-Value of 0.30 and a HP 200 plastic panel finish. This panel system will be a Deep End Pools standard installation for the 2010 product range.

The Deluxe Insulated panels feature a 125mm thermal panel which is the most advanced pool panel system available today. Running costs combined with faster easier installation mean massive savings all round when using the Heatwave Deluxe system. This panel system is ideally suited to Pools of all types but specially ones that run at hotter temperatures.

The key benefit to this system is that it complies to part L of building regulations that are being introduced to swimming pools later on in the year and so you are basically future proofing your swimming pool construction.

Patio or Pool? – I’ll have both!

January 28th, 2010

Certikin International today 28th January 2010 unveiled a new high end swimming pool construction solution. Hidden Water Pools are swimming pools that appear to be an ornate patio area, but with the flick of a switch two minutes later you have yourself a 6 ft deep swimming pool.

Hidden water pools are ideal for restricted areas that would like a swimming pool, but would also like the use of a paved area when the swimming pool is not in use. The pools have so many benefits over traditional swimming pools that they are proving to be a massive success.

The Hidden Water Pools are available in 6 sizes and have many different options to make them truly bespoke.

Hidden water pools have variable depth to allow you to make the pool a shallow pool for your children. Or a simple paddling pool to cool your feet. The depth can be adjusted to full depth to allow for a bathe or with the addition of a counter current unit you can have a full exercise pool. You can also incorporate massage jets to soothe away those aches and pains.

The Hidden Water Pool has a control panel that requires a key and a 4 digit pin code to be entered to prevent any unwanted tampering. The floor raises and lowers using the swimming pools own water inside a tube, once fully elevated the swimming pools floor has support legs to hold the floor securely in place with a maximum load limit of 9 tons!

The benefits of having a fully sealed off pool are reduced chemical consumption as there is no direct sun light onto the pool to eat up chlorine, Minimal debris into the swimming pool as it is fully encapsulated and it is extremely safe to have children around as there is no exposed water.

The centre of the floor has a table that can be incorporated to allow the patio area to be fully functional and usable.

The Hidden Water Pool is an extremely versatile piece of equipment for a truly impressive centre piece to any home. The prices for these pools start at around £100,000.

Do I need planning permission for my swimming pool?

August 11th, 2009

Many people dream of having their very own pool but are not sure if they require planning permission to construct their pool.

Here is an extract from the SPATA swimming pool guide.

Outdoor Pools, or those housed in a detached building which are for the exclusive enjoyment of the owner of the property and his family will often be treated as a permitted development and no Planning Consent will be required. Building Regulation Constent will be required for any kind of indoor pool. Consent will normally only be required for an  outdoor pool where there may be disturbance to adjascent buildings or drains. A pool located in listed premises or ina conservation area will always require Planning Constent.

You should inform the local water authority that you are building a pool, or ask your contracter to do so.

In the first instance, consult your SPATA contractor for advice and they will be able to advise and help.

Big Brother Swimming pool pushes the boundaries of swimming pool design once more

June 17th, 2009

Once again the UK’s most televised swimming pool, on channel 4’s Big Brother pushes the boundary of swimming pool design within the UK.

Let’s face it swimming pool construction can become a little uniform, everyone expecting a true blue, inviting plunge, of crystal clear water this it delivers very well however how about a contrasting red coloured pool surround this nobody could have seen coming!

Decking around swimming pool surrounds has been very popular over the last few years, however changing the perspective of this decking to become a stained timber truly is a brave bold and potentially new statement for swimming pool surrounds.

Year on year we are asked to build and mimic the style and design of the big brother swimming pool in and around our surrounding territories Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire we simply cannot wait to offer services to anyone looking to push the envelope and give the latest big brother swimming pool journey to their back yard.

You will even notice within the swimming pool, the skimmer and return fittings have been matched in colour to mask the free board appearance of traditional skimmers being white in colour against the blue liner.

We must admire the Big Brother production team for coming up with a unique design, non comparable to anything currently marketed within the UK swimming pool industry, and we are proud to be a part of it being the builders and suppliers for the UK’s most televised swimming pool.

If you are looking to really tune in to a style of swimming pool construction and feel the taste for something different then contact deep end pools of Taplow Berkshire and Beaconsfield Buckinghamshire.

Out with old! in with the new! Deep End Pools move construction methods into the future for good!

June 10th, 2009

Deep End Pools recently embarked upon a project on a swimming pool in Ickenham Middlesex, the existing swimming pool had recently had the liner changed by a local swimming pool company in Bucks and seemingly there were some oversights!

The original swimming pool was an old Metal panel swimming pool system installed sometime in the 80’s now heading into some 30 years old the shell was showing some serious signs of wear, which we discovered upon removal of the swimming pool liner.

The swimming pool unfortunately had an incorrect backfill substance allowing the framed chassis of the swimming pool structure to be constantly in contact with moisture, this is very frustrating as the reason for the method of build in this way is simply to save costs on the build via the contractor, the end result became extremely apparent when the liner was removed the soil backfill had penetrated 2 or more swimming pool panels to the point they were split and soil was spilling into the swimming pool!

An extremely precarious situation as the ‘A’ frame braces had also suffered bad corrosion damage; the pool could collapse at any time! Further to the woes the swimming pool floor screed was heavily ingressed with algae this had penetrated through the new swimming pool liner! Less than 12 months old!

We had two options given this scenario, the pool structure was weak and at the point of collapse and the floor screed poorly laid undulating and impregnated with algae. Option 1 fill the pool in option 2 build a pool within the pool!

Option 2 was chosen

Option 2 actually worked out to be more cost effective than filling the swimming pool in due to the restricted access to the house, as the existing swimming pool was a liner hopper swimming pool and more commonly new build swimming pool construction requests are for flat bottomed constant depth pools, we opted to infill the deep end of the swimming pool and form a concrete footing ready to accept the new heat retaining swimming pool block system.

our work began stabilising the existing swimming pool structure, and then casting a concrete footing to accept the new in ground pool, once the swimming pool was up this being only in a matter of 2 days work, we began the concrete infill to the backfill section and the block internal.

Once the pool was built we set upon reshaping the swimming pool floor firstly chemically treating the existing pool floor with an antifungicide then installing a new concrete cast over the infill steel re-enforced then applying our swimming pool liner floor porous screed mix

We finished the pool top with a buff set of certikin lined coping stones 9″ and installed the liner lock ready to accept a certkin liner, to ensure the swimming pools future we installed new certikin skimmers and return fittings adjoining to the original pipe work in the ground after a successful pressure test.

Why the Form works Polystyrene pool kit?

Every new build swimming pool this season we have constructed has been a heat retaining block system the wall is softer than the typical block rendered swimming pool, the structure once full has immense strength when the concrete is in filled. Not to mention the blocks ability to retain heat within the swimming pool.

We aim to install the liner very shortly bringing this family swimming pool back to life for another 30 years!

if you are considering swimming pool depth reduction to reduce costs, or if you shell is looking a little ropey and you would like to reduce the swimming pool size and water volume and switch to an environmentally friendly system and you are located in the Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire districts then why not call upon Deep End Pools and we can review your long term view on swimming pool carbon emissions and heat retaining swimming pool systems.

Swimming pool construction, Enquiry increase with good weather.

May 12th, 2009

We must say we have been very sceptical regarding the economy and the effect on our swimming pool construction teams! However we have seemingly been blessed with wonderful British summer very early despite the odd day with temperatures pinching around 13 -14 degrees, as a whole so far so good.

Due to our recent expansion at Deep End Pools, we have been able to cover our resources across three counties Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, and Oxfordshire. Our swimming pool construction services vary from wooden above ground pools supplied and installed, in ground block and liner pool, in ground panel pools, in ground polystyrene pools, one piece Rivera pools, the very luxurious Proteous overflow pools or deck level systems, to fully mosaic indoor swimming pools.

the feed back this season when tendering for swimming pool construction has been on the basis of a don’t move improve ethos, with the cost of moving and stamp duty costs a swimming pool has never been a better idea for a long term investment for the @ home leisure environment
