At Certikin Seminar 2010 introduced a chemical cleaning device to Deep End Pools that is ideal for sanitizing pool areas, pool shells, leisure complexes and school changing rooms.
Sagewash is a hand held spray gun that produces a constant flow of sanitizing Hypochlorous Acid. It has a screw on, centrally mounted cylindrical container that holds a solid capsule of Calcium Hypochlorite. When a water supply from a standard 12mm hosepipe is attached, the water fills the container, wets the capsule and the dilution is fed to the patented venturi which produces an accurate mixture. This mixture is Hypochlorous Acid, which is a potent disinfectant. The output pH is approximately 7.8 and the free available chlorine concentration (FAC), is controlled at approximately 70ppm. Hypochlorous Acid at this pH is almost neutral and has no negative effects on humans or animals. The sanitized area can be occupied immediately after cleansing without any further rinsing.
The sage wash is easy to hold with its easy to use design. The capsule simply drops into the container and the container is screwed hand tight. Attach the hose, press the trigger and adjust the output nozzle from jet to spray as you wish, to maintain constant coverage.
Sophistication is the keynote of the venturi and its ability to control the concentration of output fluid, so that the Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) is kept at around 780 and the FAC between 70 and 90 ppm depending upon input flow rate. Unlike many disinfecting systems, the Sagewash maintains a constant flow of cleaning fluid for the life of the capsule. A capsule will provide full flow sanitizing for 3.5 hours from new. The Sagewash is supplied with a tub of capsules. The useage rate is such that this guarantees that the Sagewash is both highly effective and economic to use.

The smell of chlorine in a pool is usually accompanied by irritation to the eyes, nose, lungs and skin of the swimmers. The pool smell is not due to chlorine but to chloramines, chemical compounds that build up in pool water when there is not enough free chlorine.
Chloramines are the result of two ingredients:
· chlorine and
· sweat, oils or urine that are brought into the pool by the swimmers.
Chlorine disinfectants are added to pool water to destroy germs that can cause illness. Sweat, oils and urine are unwanted additions to pool water. Showering before swimming can help minimize the formation of chloramines and the smelly pool.
The Chemistry of Chloramines
When chlorine disinfectants are added to water, two chemicals are formed: hypochlorous acid and hypochlorite ion. Hypochlorous acid is known as “free available chlorine” or FAC and has the potential to destroy waterborne germs. Pool owners should manage the FAC level of pool water for the safety of swimmers. Free available chlorine is reduced when it reacts with swimmer waste to form these smelly chloramines.
Minimizing Chloramine Smells
Swimmers with red, irritated eyes complain that there is too much chlorine in the pool. When pool water is irritating, there is almost always not enough free chlorine in the pool water.
Chloramines, which produce the typical pool smell, can be destroyed using chlorine or non-chlorine shocks. A shock treatment destroys the ammonia and organic compounds that combine with chlorine to make chloramines.
As the morning chills and the air becomes a mist, everyone starts to feel the chill!
only recently enquiries have once more picked up for Tylo saunas, we never really associated Saunas to be seasonal however it now makes sense, a Tylo Sauna not only is a great way of receiving stress but a great way to warm the inner core, after 30 minutes in a sauna you can feel revived
Only our most recent enquiry covers a couple of lifestyle enhancements being a Marquis spa, and a Tylo sauna the two brands stand comparable in design and quality unrivalled to very few.
Tylo saunas are very flexible and the range is simply huge, many garages become converted to home leisure suits or spare bedrooms or even specified within new build constructions.
whatever the reason for a sauna, Tylo is the way to go come and view our tylo display @ Deep End Pools Holtspur Beaconsfield Bucks HP9 1UG 01494 671787

Deep End Pools have won the tender for a commercial swimming pool contract in Harrow, Middlesex just outside Central London. The site is a stones throw from the massive arch of the Legendary Wembley football stadium.
A site survey by Deep End Pools found many problems with the existing set up in the commercial pool area. The sand filter was shot to pieces, the balance tank needing attention, spa needs a complete overhaul, renovation to a sauna and the pool plant needing some works to bring back to 100% working order.
There are many more things to be done alongside with these works, the above mentioned just being the start.
The first obstacle is to be removing the existing Sand Filters. With them being of commercial application they can have a few hundred kilos of sand in each unit. This will then be carefully handled and disposed off of site.
These will then be replaced with some brand new Astral Filters. Astral are the biggest pool supplier in the industry,
With 6 different advanced production processes available: plastic injection, polyester casting, stainless steel manipulation, fibreglass winding, thermoplastic blow-moulding, and thermo-conform technology, Astral Pool is constantly making product improvement by researching new processes and materials to meet and exceed the demands of the commercial swimming pool market. They have the perfect product for every job.
The balance tank is then the next issue with these being a breeding ground for many different types of bacteria and disease, such as legionella and Cryptosporidium. Neither of which we want our guys or any of the pool users to get.
We will initially empty the balance tank and then give a through clean using the correct chemicals and equipment. We will then repair as necessary and then clean for a final time just before refilling the tank.
Then we have the tricky job of repairing the years of bodge job repairs on the main swimming pool filtration system Our team of top ISPE engineers will give the plant room a full Deep End Pools makeover to get it back to a 100% SPATA rated swimming pool filtration system.
Next will be the sauna and steam area’s. Sauna and steam are used very heavily especially in commercial applications as most people finish their heavy work out with a relaxing sauna or steam.
We are contracted to install a very Smart Certikin Commercial Sauna which benefits from luxuries such as heavy duty benches, brackets and room for plenty of people to relax after their work out session.
Next to the Sauna which will be receiving a top to toe refurbishment. The custom built units benefit from a fully tiled finish which looks beautiful but more importantly for hygiene reasons is very easily cleaned. The steam room is of a bespoke design will be repaired back once again to its former glory for this, commercial swimming pool refurbishment in Harrow, Middlesex just outside London.
The in ground spa has seen much better days and Deep End Pools are to give the spa the fully required repairs to get it back into the centre piece of the swimming pool area.
Deep End Pools received the confirmation this morning and are ordering and organising for the total refurbishment on the commercial pool area in Harrow, Middlesex.
The works are scheduled to start 5 days after receiving the required equipment.
We will keep you up to date with all the works on the commercial refurbishment and you never know if we finish a little early we may go for a quick kick about at Wembley Football Stadium.
If you need any refurbishment works contact us 01494 671 787 or Email sales@deependpools.co.uk.

Badu Spec Commercial Swimming pool Pump
Yesterday Sunday the 1st of February saw the doors opening at the UK’s swimming pool trade event SPATEX. We set off in icy February to the Brighton sea front to the Metropol hotel and function area.
In past years SPATEX becomes the Mecca for all things new within the swimming pool trade, and this year proved no different. we are so happy to see how the swimming pool trade is embracing the impact of the environment when now sourcing and distributing products to name a few that really blew our socks off and we will certainly be implementing in 2009 here they are:
Pumps:
The Badu
90/20 FU with Controller_ ______________ 1_kw__________20_m3 per @8m__________ £1,442.15 + vat
The Speck Badu 90/20 pump has a variable frequency motor which can be controlled via
The separate control unit. This pump can be used where additional overnight filtration is
Required and can be done at a reduced rate, or installations with a water feature and one
Pump can be used to run this as well as the filtration.
We estimate that the pump would have paid for itself by year four based upon £0.20 pence per kW hr on an average pool in average usage.
The Badu was not alone with both the Pollet pool group and certikin having variants of this product.
Solar power:
now the markets moving solar has been on our wish list for affordability for some time now, we dabbled with systems in 2004 with Rio May however the cost per units didn’t seem to offer the ROI in a realistic time scale for many of interested users, Golden Coast the leaders in innovative products within the swimming pool trade have announced the launch of their sunburst evacuated tube collectors but more importantly they really have launched as this time round their affordable! a typical kit for a 10m x 5m average sized swimming pool is around £6.5k + vat plus fitting which means we are able to supply and install free heat for life for around £10k now that is more like it! The comprises of:
Evacuated Tubes are made from Pyrex glass and are EN12975 certified.
58mm diameter and 1775mm long.
Even when it is cloudy and windy the tubes remain relatively efficient.
When installed on a sheltered pool (using a cover when not in use) and with
The collectors in a South facing position, it is possible to reach a temperature
Of 28 °C during May – September.
This assumes 2.5 tubes per square metre on an outdoor pool.
Sunburst kits comprise of:
30 Tube Collectors, Roof Bolts, Pump Station, Controller, Tyforcor, Expansion Vessel,
10m DN-16 Pipe, Lead Slates, Relay and fittings.
So this is a fully inclusive set up, we aim to display sunburst in our showroom in Beaconsfield bucks early in 2009
Lighting:
a massive switch on lighting shown at SPATEX huge growth in the LED sector gone are the days of the standard par50 300w bulbs the new LEDS consume 1-5 w and have a fantastic spread of light due to the placement of the bulbs within the housing, let’s assume your pool has two lights old standard units that’s 600watts of power being consumed you can now drop this as low as 10watts surely this is an obvious switch to make a must for 2009.
Flow:
well let’s face it flow within a swimming pool is not the most exciting thing in the world but to us pool tech’s it is one of the most important issues we face, often many areas within swimming pool suffer poor flow, corner areas becoming stagnated and forming algae. We have watched this product for some time and viewed the product working at a pool show in Vegas in 2001, the pool circulator! a very American product so great ready for the cheese but being honest on the face of it with the very detailed DVD and the aid of dye the pool circulator really works pumping a mass of water in all directions around your swimming pool this will shift cold spots, dislodge algae and dust. The claims are reduced filter run time, reduced chemical consumption to name a few so watch this space as we aim to have an in-house test in our new testing facility in the spring!
Filters:
Well the filter is the epicentre to the swimming pool filtration or the dustbin more commonly known in the trade! the last thing we all need or want is harbouring bacteria within the system, as harbouring bacteria often clumps giving inadequate filtration and increased chlorine demand in turn producing nasty cloudy water. two systems that fit this bill extremely well on a problem solving basis is the Pro copi uk RTM excellence filter as it has an smooth finish inside creating a good clean smooth backwash and Dryden Aqua ’s AFM media AFM? What that active filtration media. afm is not only a recycled medium but it is charged to attract bacterium’s with claims of 80% chlorine consumption better control for cryptosporidium, reduced bacterial risk and being 100% environmentally sustainable AFM is set to change the filter media market by storm. Dryden Aqua’s biggest success is for David Lloyd within a commercial set up they have media now 16 years old! And still in excellent condition.
Eco Savr fish
Eco savr fish came about in around 2001 I recall under a name tropical fish or very similar, there is now a UK agent for Eco savr which we feel has millage for those looking to reduce energy bills when heating swimming pools. In very basic terms eco savr fish releases a small amount of liquid to the water’s surface creating a small molecular layer on top of the water’s surface this helps prevent against the evaporation of the water and heat! one fish in an average sized pool lasts around a month at the cost of about £13.50 per fish in a 20 week season this would cost roughly £67.50 not bad considering the claims for heat loss saving can be up to 50% well again we are planning a basic home test on our test pool later in the season and the fish will be in store from mid feb we are offering eco savr to all of our service contracts in season 2009
this was just a snippet offering of new products for 2009 this year our showroom will become laden with all come and say hello!
