2010 Swimming Pool Summer – Predictions

March 23rd, 2010

Is 2010 to be a real “Swimming Pool summer”.

Swimming Pool Summer

“Swimming Pool Summer” y0u say,  This has been forecast by Positive Weather Solutions, who last summer predicted a wash-out, and have consistently out-forecast the Met Office over the last two years with a continuous accurate long-term predictions.

The prediction says average temperatures in June, July and August are on course to beat those of 1976, “The Only Proper Summer” and the hottest summer yet when temperatures exceeded 89.6f (32c) for 15 days from late June to early July.

This year a two-week spell at the start of August is expected to be hotter than the UK’s highest ever temperature, the 38.5c (101.3f) recorded at Brogdale, near Faversham, Kent, on August 10, 2003.

Positive Weather Solutions have said summer 2010 will break records as El Nino, which warms the Pacific Ocean, combines with the effects of the Atlantic jet stream weather pattern and the Azores high pressure region. Senior forecaster Jonathan Powell said: ‘There will be stifling temperatures, making it possibly the warmest UK summer on record and placing it at least in the top three warmest summers recorded.

‘ He then went on to predict ‘dry spells with pleasant sunshine’ and said the best time to book a holiday would probably be mid-July. Mr Powell also said: ‘A very warm summer has been on the cards for some years, and the Met Office believed it was likely to happen last year – and people should be able to find a good deal on one after last year’s Met Office forecast.’

The Positive Weather Solutions forecast is:

 JUNE: Starts with fine weather. Rain mid-month but temperatures warm to very warm. Changeable later in month with fine conditions although some heavy rain to finish.

 JULY: Starts unsettled with some rain, then dry through mid-month with warm to very warm temperatures, lots of sunshine and light breeze. Humid towards end of the month with thunderstorms and possible flash floods.

AUGUST: Thunderstorms quickly replaced by unbroken sunshine which may cause record temperatures. Warm mid-month but broken up by unsettled periods. Good weather towards month end before showery, cooler conditions move in.

Summer 2010 is the best summer to have a Deep End Pool swimming pool installed. We will keep you up to date with the 2010 swimming pool summer campaign.

March 17th, 2010

Deep End Pools emplyee Nathaniel Cooper is a pool builder by day and a hot shot race driver by night*                     * (and weekends)

Nathaniel takes 2nd at Snetterton

Nathaniel competes in the 750 Motor Club, 750 Formula which is a national series competed on all of the top UK circuits.

The 2010 season of the 750 Motor Clubs, 750 formula started with a very wet race at Snetterton National Circuit, Norfolk.

Nathaniel,who is a highly tipped contender for this years crown, has been working on the car through the winter for the first race of the season.

The race was on a very wet and slippery Snetterton Circuit. Nathaniel led the race for the first 3 corners until his brakes overheated and the bias of the brakes switched to the rear, which caused him to spin. Nathaniel managed to rejoin the field and hold onto the spot until the chequred flag.

Nathaniel who has been working for Deep End Pools for several months spoke after the race of the brakes overheating and being on slicks in the wet being his biggest problems of the day, but was still extremely happy with the result.

Hot Tub Hire – Service that is second to none

March 16th, 2010

Deep End Pools have been renting out hot tubs and spas for several years. The hire hot tubs are used to celebrate all different events from birthday parties, bbq’s, graduations and for romantic weekends.

We recently rented one of our spa-n-a-box tubs to a local customer who had rented it for a weekend gathering with her friends. The tub was installed and handed over as normal with plenty of time for it to get up to full temperature before the weekend of the party. We then received a phone call saying that the tub had stopped heating and that they were worried that the spa would not be up to full temperature for the party that was planned.

Deep End Pools sent out Service Engineer Neil Venison to go out and fix the spa as soon as possible. Neil went prepared with a spare pump and filtration pack and swapped them onto the installed spa so that the existing water would not be wasted. The spa was then back in full operation and got up to full temperature in no time.

We collected the spa after the weekends activities and then received this very kind letter from the couple we rented the spa to:

Deep End Pools,

Many thanks again for our hot tub hire this weekend. A big thank you to Neil also who came out to replace the broken pump last Thursday, I really appreciated both your and his help!

We plan to look at getting a permanent hot tub when we move house this Autumn, but in the meantime.

 Thanks again

Salt Water Chlorination – Benefits all round

March 1st, 2010

The important difference between saltwater pools and traditional chorinated Swimming Pools is the lack chloramines, commonly known as Combined Chlorine.

Chloramines are the irritants which give traditional pools the stigma of burning eyes and bad smell. The Salt Water Chlorination process burns off chloramines in the same manner as traditional shock treatment (oxidizer). When chlorine levels are low in the pool, one possible cause is low salt (others can be higher-than-normal chlorine demand, low stabilizer or mechanical issues with the generator itself.)

Salt count can be lowered due to people exiting the pool (splash out), backwashing, and dilution via rainwater.

The main benefit of a salt water generator is the fact that you do not have to buy chlorine. The salt water generator eliminates the need to make manual additions of chlorine to the swimming pool.

Other benefits of Salt Water Chlorination over traditional chlorine are:

* Constantly Adds chlorine to the swimming pool.
* No need to purchase chlorine
* No need to store hazardous flammable chemicals in your home.
* A safer more relaxing swim.
* No itchy skin
* No red sore eyes
* No nasty smell
* No nasty taste

Swimming Pool Construction – Do I need Planning Permission?

March 1st, 2010

Many people dream of having their very own pool but are not sure if they require planning permission to construct their pool.

Here is an extract from the SPATA swimming pool guide.

Outdoor Pools, or those housed in a detached building which are for the exclusive enjoyment of the owner of the property and his family will often be treated as a permitted development and no Planning Consent will be required. Building Regulation Consent will be required for any kind of indoor pool. Consent will normally only be required for an outdoor pool where there may be disturbance to adjacent buildings or drains. A pool located in listed premises or in a conservation area will always require Planning Consent.

You should inform the local water authority that you are building a pool, or ask your contractor to do so.

In the first instance, consult your SPATA contractor for advice and they will be able to advise and help.

Big Brother Swimming Pool 2008 – 2009

March 1st, 2010

Deep End Pools have been Channel 4’s swimming pool construction company of choice for the 2008 and 2009 Big Brother swimming pools.

Deep End Pools were chosen for the swimming pool construction due to our flexibility and outt side of the box approach when it comes to swimming pool design.

The 2008 Big Brother 9 Swimming pool was a timber framed design with its main feature being the timber deck that surrounds the pool. The pool was the centre piece of the 2008 series of Big Brother.

Big Brother 10 in 2009 featured a swimming pool that was hidden for the first few weeks of the housemates entering. The swimming pool has a lot of unique design features that were a first for our suppliers as well as us.

Firstly the Big Brother 2010 swimming pool was a  parallelogram that made for some interesting liner fitting.

Secondly the centre of the swimming pools wall around the whole shell were translucent to allow for multi coloured lighting behind the swimming pools walls. This meant that the walls also featured some heavy duty perspex to cope with the pressure of the swimming pools water.

The pool was hidden underneath a blue decking until all housemates were official Big Brother housemates.
