How often do you think we have heard in our showrooms “We were going to get it done but, i think we will leave it till next year now!” This can be with leaks, electrics, cracks, repairs and small plant room issues. Quite a number of people will leave things until the last breath which usally means twice as much work or, a burnt out pump in the process of waiting. We at Deep End Pools are strong believers in the old saying

” A Thread in time saves Nine” and there is no better way of proving this to you than by showing you one simple picture.

This is somebody’s plantroom. Or should I say this WAS somebody’s plantroom.

Deep End Pools were called out to inspect the plantroom after the effects of this dangerous fire.

Here at Deep End Pools we have seen our fair share of plantroom failures yet each one is a horrible thing to have to see.

Especially when you know it could have been prevented do easily. The cause of the fire is not 100% known but the most likely suspect is the electrical heater.

The heater has not been serviced in many years. The electrics were well past their sell by date and this is the effects of not having a simple plantroom inspection by a qualified electrician.

We highly advise that once a year in bucks, berks, oxon and London that youget a qualified electrical inspection.

All heating sources should be serviced at least once a year to check for safety and maxium effiency. The cost of which is far greater than losing your plantroom.

We know of a number of swimming pools in Bucks and Berks with their plantrooms joined to their houses or even in their garages.

Deep End Pools have won the tender for a commercial swimming pool contract in Harrow, Middlesex just outside Central London. The site is a stones throw from the massive arch of the Legendary Wembley football stadium.

A site survey by Deep End Pools found many problems with the existing set up in the commercial pool area. The sand filter was shot to pieces, the balance tank needing attention, spa needs a complete overhaul, renovation to a sauna and the pool plant needing some works to bring back to 100% working order.

There are many more things to be done alongside with these works, the above mentioned just being the start.

The first obstacle is to be removing the existing Sand Filters. With them being of commercial application they can have a few hundred kilos of sand in each unit. This will then be carefully handled and disposed off of site.

These will then be replaced with some brand new Astral Filters. Astral are the biggest pool supplier in the industry,

With 6 different advanced production processes available: plastic injection, polyester casting, stainless steel manipulation, fibreglass winding, thermoplastic blow-moulding, and thermo-conform technology, Astral Pool is constantly making product improvement by researching new processes and materials to meet and exceed the demands of the commercial swimming pool market.  They have the perfect product for every job.

The balance tank is then the next issue with these being a breeding ground for many different types of bacteria and disease, such as legionella and Cryptosporidium. Neither of which we want our guys or any of the pool users to get.

We will initially empty the balance tank and then give a through clean using the correct chemicals and equipment. We will then repair as necessary and then clean for a final time just before refilling the tank.

Then we have the tricky job of repairing the years of bodge job repairs on the main swimming pool filtration system Our team of top ISPE engineers will give the plant room a full Deep End Pools makeover to get it back to a 100% SPATA rated swimming pool filtration system.

Next will be the sauna and steam area’s. Sauna and steam are used very heavily especially in commercial applications as most people finish their heavy work out with a relaxing sauna or steam.

We are contracted to install a very Smart Certikin Commercial Sauna which benefits from luxuries such as heavy duty benches, brackets and room for plenty of people to relax after their work out session.

Next to the Sauna which will be receiving a top to toe refurbishment. The custom built units benefit from a fully tiled finish which looks beautiful but more importantly for hygiene reasons is very easily cleaned. The steam room is of a bespoke design will be repaired back once again to its former glory for this, commercial swimming pool refurbishment in Harrow, Middlesex just outside London.

The in ground spa has seen much better days and Deep End Pools are to give the spa the fully required repairs to get it back into the centre piece of the swimming pool area.

The works are scheduled to start 5 days after receiving the required equipment.

Domestic swimming pools are still a mark of luxury in the UK although as they are coming down in real price terms they are becoming more popular. The most effective safety device of a swimming pool is adult supervision.

Safety of Swimming

Swimming pools are remarkably safe. According to government figures there are around fifteen deaths each year from drowning in swimming pools. While that is obviously fifteen people too many, in the context of three hundred and fifty million visits to public swimming pools it is a remarkably low figure. But that figure doesn’t include visits to private pools, such as those at homes and in clubs, hotels and other private establishments.

Swimming pools are probably relatively safe because of risk of compensation. Because we are aware of the dangers, particularly of drowning, we tend to take more care. But as well as deaths there are many injuries suffered by people slipping at the pool side or diving into shallow water.

Areas of Safety to Consider

If you have an open-air pool in your garden, or are considering having one put in, there are three elements to consider

• Fencing to prevent people accessing the pool area without supervision.
• Covers to prevent people falling in (safety cover).
• Correct chemical treatments for the swimming pool water.

 July 26  saw the first night of world championship swimming competitions saw six world record set at the Foro Italico on Sunday.

 Italy’s Federica Pellegrini made home fans proud by beating her own world record to win the women’s 400m freestyle, and German Paul Biedermann also set a world record as he won the men’s 400m freestyle final.

The Dutch women’s 4×100m freestyle team, the Olympic champions in 2008, smashed their world record to win the title, despite a best efforts swim by German Britta Steffen who set an individual 100m freestyle mark in the lead-off leg at the same race.

Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom set a new world standard in the women’s 100m butterfly while American Ariana Kukors bettered the women’s 200m individual medley world mark.

Michael Phelps led the United States to beat Russia in the men’s 4×100m freestyle. To win relay gold, with France finishing third.

One of the most common questions we will get over the phone is

‘All my levels are perfect but my pool is cloudy’.

9 times out of 10 we will find out that the last a chlorine treatment and test was 2 – 3 days before calling us!

The key things to remember with your pool are as follows:

Chlorine or Any other sanitzer

Chlorine in your swimming pool is like a car with petrol. The more you use your pool the more chlorine you will use. Even when you are not using the pool the elements, such as sun and rain, will play a massive part in the pools levels. If you are having troubles check your chlorine and work off of the reading.

All the levels are right but the pool is still cloudy?

Once you are sure the levels in the pools water are where they want to be, but the pool is still cloudy or hazy, you have a few options.

1) Ensure all un nessecery debris and rubbish has been cleared from the pool

2) Ensure the pools filtration is clean.

Sand filters should be back washed regulary and ensure to change your sand every 4-5 years for maxium  effiency.

Cartridge filters should be kept clean. A deep cleansing wash is avaliable. Some cartridge filters come with a pressure gauge and when the pressure raises by a certain amount of psi it is time for a clean.

3) If the pool if clean, the filter is clean, but the pool is still cloudy or hazy then I would recommend a clarifer. A clarifer works by binding together  the particles and suspended matter in the water and should make them big enough for the filter to catch them.

If you find you still have no lucky in creating Sparkling pool water then its time to Floc the pool.A Floc treatment is one of the most guaranteed ways to clear a cloudy pool.

The basic technique is to  turn the circulation system off.

Evenly spread the treatment around the pool.

Leave the pool for around 24 hours.

Then hoover all of the settlement very slowly to waste.

The floc treatment works by coagulation, which means to create a settled solid on the pools floor. This treatment has turned some of the most heavily polluted pools from cloudy to gin clear in a matter of hours!

So if your pool has gone cloudy please check all of your levels on your testers first, correct them and then perform the above steps to create the perfect swimming pool to bathe in.

They placed it where I wanted it, connected it, filled it, commissioned it, and took more than 40 minutes explaining the chemical and maintenance requirements to me, I didn’t feel rushed or overwhelmed.

Now, because I am the most unlucky person on the planet there was a problem with the control panel on my new hot tub, It did not stop me using the tub but upon highlighting the problem to Deep End Pools, as well as unreserved apologies they took immediate action to fix it and fix it they did. They did everything they said they would do and this included being on site until past 7pm, all covered by warranty, no drama.

These guys are brilliant, they are professional, personal able and unquestionably knowledgeable about their products, I am so so so happy with my tub, it is an amazing piece of kit, the jets are powerful but they don’t make you itch, the controls are easy to work, it basically does everything for you except for adding some chemicals before and after use. I would recommend a hot tub to everyone on the planet as would I recommend the products and services of Deep End Pools!
